“Basic Gardening Tips"- Presented by Martha Vaché

1:30 p.m.


Plants will grow and flourish if given the right care and an appropriate environment.
This workshop will discuss the basics in growing both flowers and vegetables.
Martha is a Master Gardener in training. Other Master Gardeners (including Anita Moody and Susan Harden) will also be available to help answer your gardening questions.

"Hot Off the Grill" Presented by Randy Twyford

2:30 p.m.


Randy owns Twyford BBQ & Catering in Jacksonville.
He will demonstrate how to use the grill for cooking for your family.
Learn cooking tips and enjoy delicious samples.

Kids Day

Located on the southeast part of the fairgrounds near the 4-H Building
Fun Activities for Children --ages 2 to 12

1:30 to 3 p.m.

 

Face Painting, Games, Activities, Crafts
Fire Safety House provided by the Jacksonville Fire Department
McGruff the Crime Dog – South Jacksonville Police Department
Blue Bear - mascot of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
Terry the Tiger - mascot of Tiger Troop at Farmers State Bank & Trust Company
Prizes – donated by Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer
Educational Activities – provided by Thank a Farmer, Cass Morgan Farm Bureau Young Leaders, JACIL,
Midwest Youth Services, Morgan County Health Department, North Side Ag 4-H Club, Illinois College, Passavant Area Hospital, and adult and teen volunteers.
Gifts, coupons, and prizes - donated by Morgan County merchants


"Pedal Tractor Pull"
In the east horse barn (west of the show ring)-2:00 p.m.
This FREE activity is open to children who have not yet attended high school

 

This event is designed to give young boys and girls a chance to try their luck at tractor pulling using specially designed Pedal Tractors and Sleds. Any boy or girl who has not entered high school is eligible to participate in the Pedal Pull. There is no entry fee.

Registration is from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the east horse barn, west of the show ring
(Older youth may register until their class pulls)

 

First Place trophies will be awarded in each weight class.

 

1st—$5 2nd—$4 3rd—$3 4th—$2.50 5th—$2 6th—$1.50 7th—$1

 

 

Classes:

1. 0-39 pounds

2. 40-49 pounds

3. 50-59 pounds

4. 60-74 pounds

5. 75-89 pounds

6. 90-119 pounds

7. 120+ pounds


Classes will be assigned based on each child's weight.
