"The Underground Railroad in Morgan County"
Presented by Benjamin Belzer, Woodland Farm Tour Guide
Ben is a native of Jacksonville and an Illinois College history major. He's a Collections Manager for the IL Supreme Court Historical Preservation Commission. During his presentation he will answer questions: "Why was Morgan County an "anti-slavery boiling pot"?, What was the Underground Railroad?, and Why was it important in Jacksonville's history?
"Monarch Way Stations"
Presented by Anita Moody and Stacy McQueen
Anita is a Master Gardener who has been planting habitat for monarchs for years. Stacy, an elementary teacher, has been raising Monarchs in her classroom for over 20 years and recently went to California to see the over wintering Monarchs. During their presentation you will learn about the life cycle of Monarchs and what plants local gardeners should plant.
